Three teenagers have been charged following an alleged aggravated carjacking in Melbourne's southeast, which involved a daring police chase across multiple suburbs. The incident unfolded around 12:55 am on Sunday, when two males, aged 17 and 16, and a 13-year-old female, allegedly approached a car on Blackwood Drive in Hampton Park, armed with a knife. They threatened the 76-year-old male driver, demanding his keys before fleeing in the vehicle. Fortunately, the driver and other occupants, two women aged 51 and 77, were not physically harmed. The stolen car was traced to the Dandenong area, where it was abandoned on Heatherton Road. The suspects then allegedly switched to another car, driving away and evading police through the Monash Freeway. A police helicopter tracked the car until it came to a stop on the Princes Highway in Pakenham, where the occupants were swiftly apprehended by officers on foot. The 16-year-old male has been remanded and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, handling stolen goods, and dangerous driving while being pursued by police. He appeared in the Children's Court on Sunday afternoon. The 17-year-old male and 13-year-old female have been bailed and charged with theft of a motor vehicle and handling stolen goods. They will appear in the Dandenong Children's Court on January 23rd.
