A Bold Statement: The PKR's Fight in Sabah Continues!
In a recent development, PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar has made it clear that the party's journey in Sabah is far from its conclusion. Despite the recent election results, Izzah urges PKR members and supporters to remain steadfast in their pursuit of justice and defense of the people.
But here's where it gets controversial...
Nurul Izzah, who also serves as PKR's co-election director, emphasizes that past election setbacks have never deterred the party from its mission. She highlights that PKR's struggle is not solely defined by electoral outcomes but by its resilience and ability to learn from setbacks.
"The results are a reminder and a lesson for us," Izzah said. "They reflect the people's sentiments on governance, transparency, and local leadership. It's a clear message that disunity undermines our political strength and erodes public trust in our leadership capabilities."
And this is the part most people miss...
Izzah takes full responsibility for the results, acknowledging that PKR must learn from its weaknesses and emerge stronger. She believes that the party's struggle extends beyond elections, emphasizing that as long as there are injustices to fight and people to defend, PKR will stand tall and continue its fight.
In the recent state election, PKR fielded 12 candidates but secured only one seat, with Jamawi Jaafar emerging victorious in Melalap. Additionally, the party lost two traditional strongholds, Inanam and Api-Api, which it had held since 2013.
PKR's journey in Sabah has been a challenging one, with the party struggling to expand its influence beyond these two seats, even after retaining them in the 2020 state polls.
Despite these setbacks, PKR holds onto its sole parliamentary seat in Sepanggar, a victory out of 10 contests in the 2022 general election.
So, what's next for PKR in Sabah? Will the party be able to regain its strength and expand its influence?
