The Global Gita Path, a mass recitation of verses from the Bhagavad Gita, filled the air with a sense of devotion and spiritual awakening. Haryana's Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, graced the occasion, and in a gesture of appreciation, declared a special holiday for the participating school students. The event also welcomed the presence of yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Maharaj.
On the auspicious occasion of Margashirsha Shukla Ekadashi and Gita Jayanti, the Chief Minister offered prayers for the well-being of the citizens, seeking enlightenment through knowledge. He highlighted the significance of this day, 5,163 years ago, when Lord Krishna imparted the profound teachings of the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. These teachings, he emphasized, continue to guide humanity even today. The Chief Minister expressed immense pride in the simultaneous recitation of the Gita's Ashtadashi verses across India and in numerous countries worldwide.
But here's where it gets controversial... The Chief Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for the global celebration of Gita Jayanti. He recalled how, during his first visit to the United States in 2014, the Prime Minister gifted the book “The Gita According to Gandhi” to then-President Barack Obama. This inspired the annual international celebration, which began in 2016, drawing participants from many nations and millions of devotees. The Chief Minister also mentioned the inauguration of the Mahabharata-themed Anubhav Kendra during the International Gita Mahotsav, encouraging people to visit this enriching center.
He further stated that, under the Prime Minister's leadership, the festival has truly achieved global recognition. The Prime Minister's role in promoting yoga, with International Yoga Day celebrated annually on June 21, was also acknowledged. The Chief Minister highlighted that the Gita provides guidance in navigating life's challenges, such as stress and uncertainty, by encouraging equanimity.
The message of the Gita, he added, is timeless, offering inspiration not just to India but to all of humanity. Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Maharaj, extending his greetings on Gita Jayanti, emphasized that Lord Krishna delivered the message of karma in Kurukshetra. He celebrated the privilege of celebrating Gita Jayanti in this sacred location. He also acknowledged the efforts of Union Minister Manohar Lal and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in the grand celebration of the International Gita Mahotsav over the past decade.
Yoga guru Swami Ramdev highlighted that Kurukshetra, the sacred land of the Gita, is a source of knowledge and values for the entire world.
